2 months of waiting. Perfect repair job. So pleased.
Driving the diesel 320d and the Avalon for the past 8 weeks has really made me appreciate this car. And definatley realised life is way too short to drive boring cars.
The Avalon is staying for daily duties in horrible Sydney traffic.

Wow, 2 months is a looooong time. Why the wait? Looks great by the way! Handsome car.

3 weeks of waiting for insurance. Panel shop is high grade, deal with exotics. They take their time. Take photos of every step, use laser. Measurements for everything and have a long paint process. I’d rather wait for a quality job after I had a previous bad experiment on my old Honda.

Pretty tame stock. But very easy and cheap to get big power. Need to have some mechanical skills as lots of ancillaries go wrong - seals, injectors, water pump etc etc.
The chassis is quite short so it is quite twitchy which is fun. Steering is perfection. It does weigh a decent amount but the power makes up for it.
Good value these days too

I’m glad it’s back! I know you said it’s Australia, but I still can’t believe insurance took THREE WEEKS on it; my parents have a collision center to go to as soon as wrecks happen.

I’ve had none of those things go wrong in 3 years. But if you keep reading forums you get worried haha. I have done a fair amount of preventative maintenance. I have had an ac compressor go bad and a window regulator. I have replaced oil filter housing, septum belt, coils etc as a preventative measure. Water pump and high pressure fuel Pump was replaced before I got it.
There is lots of internet support and knowledge for these. Being a more expensive car, the forums are quite tame and people are knowledgeable.

That was the main issue. I wanted a specific high end repairer with a long waiting time and the other parties insurance was the problem as he took a while to pay up. I have had a horrible experience with collision centres. My old DC5 came back with mismatched panels, peeling paint and residual paint left on the steering wheel by somone with dirty hands. Took 2 years of arguing to rectify. Now I am a lot more picky haha

Those are the best OEM BMW wheels, possibly the best OEM wheels period.

Oh wow, well yea, that’s worth it. I’ve had cars repaired for minor fender bender stuff and there’s always something “off” - either overspray on other panels, slight panel gap, etc. I’d love to have a high-end shop do my repairs.

I’ve got the same engine in my 335i coupe and it’s a good time. Very easy to mod, also not that difficult to work on. Mine has been fairly reliable *knock on wood* however I haven’t tuned it yet. Take care of it and it’ll take care of you.
